London is Open - City of London Poster is a great study of the skyline of the City of London, by renowned linocut artist Paul Catherall.

Paul Catherall is a London-based renowned linocut artist, printmaker and illustrator who is well known for his portrayal of London landmarks, particularly their skyline. He has spent ten years in advertising, design and publishing. He is inspired by commercial art from the 1930s to the 1960s and uses linocuts to capture his distinctive style. In addition to his exhibition of linocuts at Piccadilly Circus Underground station in 2002 he has also had one man show's at Clapham Art Gallery. Clients include British Airways and Bloomsbury.

Paul was commissioned by London Transport Museum and Transport for London in 2016 to produce a series of posters to celebrate the Mayor of London's 'London is Open' campaign. Each poster features a prominent London landmark and as a group the posters form a continuous image. The Gherkin (30 St Mary Axe) and Cheesegrater (122 Leadenhall Street) feature prominently in the City of London image.

This poster is a first edition poster and will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as genuine First Edition Poster commissioned by the London Transport Museum

First edition posters are from the first printing of commissioned posters, which are often printed in low numbers. The stock that remains after first exhibiting on the underground is always collectable (unlike subsequent editions or reproductions !)
