Petrovka Poster by Bill Walsh
This poster was one of 50 shortlisted entry for the Serco Prize for Illustration in 2014, by Bill Walsh and was open to illustrators throughout the world where artists were invited to capture a well-known or obscure story in a single illustration of London Stories
Bills subject matter was interestingly based upon a movie role starring Anthony Hopkins where within the film, he couldn't find the novel 'The Girl from Petrovka' anywhere...until he came upon a discarded copy on the London Underground, which in fact had been lost by the author.
Bill, originally from Northern Ireland, now works from his home studio near Edinburgh producing illustrations and designs for clients in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands and further afield.
Recent projects include high profile illustrations for the Edinburgh International Film Festival, Empire Magazine, The Scottish National Galleries of Modern Art and Edinburgh's Winter Festivals. This was the second time in as many years that Bill has had a piece shortlisted for the Serco Prize for Illustration. Bill has a passion for retro architecture, furniture, and film posters.
This poster is a limited edition of 200.
This poster is a first edition poster and will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity as genuine First Edition Poster commissioned by the London Transport Museum
